| Prototype Generic Genome Browser
We are extending the GenericGenomeBrowser (GBrowse)
with AJAX, community annotation and other "Web 2.0"-y ideas.
You can see what we have so far at genome.biowiki.org.
Documentation
See: AJAXGBrowseDocs
Feature requests
Please see our Prototype GBrowse Wish List for what we intend to add and other info.
Compatibility Note
We aim for Firefox, Safari and Internet Explorer compatibility.
The last (IE) tends to have the most glitches at any given time.
Acknowledgements
We are now using the Dojo toolkit, after going on a framework odyssey from Prototype+Scriptaculous, through YUI, and finally to Dojo.
Comments and Discussion
We used to have a comment form here, until the TWiki comment plugin broke and we never got around to fixing it... ahem.
If you want to edit the page and add a comment, go right ahead.
At some point we'll get some sort of blog, feature tracker, whatever...

- Added link to powerpoint attachment - IanHolmes - 11 Apr 2006 10:07:42
- Added the PowerPoint presentation on the browser from our 3/17/2006 lab meeting. - AndrewUzilov - 28 Mar 2006 19:33:15
- Interesting about the GView... looks pretty nice, but doesn't seem to have caching, so the refresh takes a while when you switch views... also you can't drag it. But you can upload stuff! So presumably it renders on the fly.
On a side note, has anyone been having to wait a lot for the tiles to load in our demo? I get this sometimes when I browse from home, and I'm wondering if we should upgrade our server. Ian, Chris (or anyone else reading this)... what's it like to browse offsite? - AndrewUzilov - 28 Mar 2006 18:50:53
